The CCAC is 50!!!

2018 marks the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC)'s 50th anniversary. Since its establishment in January 1968, the CCAC has acted as the national, peer-review organization responsible for setting, maintaining, and overseeing the implementation of high standards for animal ethics and care in science. While challenges in animal science remain, the achievements of the past 50 years have provided a solid foundation of ethics and care, and have helped refine, reduce and replace the need for animal models wherever possible.

On the occasion of this important milestone, we would like to thank everyone who has had a hand in helping us grow and further our mandate of improving animal ethics and care in Canadian science – member organizations, certified institutions, volunteer experts, animal welfare organizations, and members of the Canadian public.

Throughout the year, we will be posting news, updates, photos, and event information on this website. We would also like to invite the members of our community to share stories of their experiences with the CCAC over the past 50 years and contribute to our photo gallery. You can submit anytime throughout 2018.

Check in often to catch up on the CCAC, reminisce, and see what's in store for our future!
